Northumberland Labour launch “Pride of Northumberland” community champion awards
Northumberland Labour has launched an annual initiative for communities across the County to nominate unsung heroes in their communities.
The Party recognises the efforts made by local people who go unnoticed and are generally just a good member of their community going over and beyond without want for recognition or thanks.
However, the Party has launched a nomination process that allows communities to nominate individuals or groups who go over and beyond on a regular basis and make a difference in their community.
The winner of the annual event will see Leader Scott Dickinson and Deputy Leader Liz Simpson visiting the winner to present a Pride of Northumberland Certificate issued by the Party and a gift in recognition of their hard work.
Leader Scott Dickinson said: “We have strong resilient communities in Northumberland and that’s because of the work people do and the caring responsible nature of Northumbrians up and down the County who are determined to make positive impacts in their communities.”
The Party estimates that hundreds of people will take part in nominating people they know and they want it to be inclusive from all areas of the County far and wide. The nomination process will be open from August the 5th to October the 5th giving communities 2 months to nominate people.
The Winner will be announced on the 1st of November following a process where the Shadow Cabinet on the Council will assess the nominees and make a collective decision. There will also be special recognition letters sent out too, recognising those who didn’t win but were close to doing so.
Deputy Leader Liz Simpson said: “We all personally know people who are stalwarts of their communities, they do it not for recognition but everyone deserves thanks when they work hard. This could be an individual, a group of people, or an organisation. We cannot wait to see all the work come flooding in so we can say a great big Northumbrian thank you.”
