Labour welcomes full-fibre broadband for Cambois

Northumberland’s Labour Group has welcomed the start of work to bring full-fibre broadband to Cambois.

Labour Group leader Scott Dickinson said: “Labour has always said that IT connectivity is essential in today’s world. This has been shown to be true during the pandemic and we’re delighted that bringing good connectivity to Cambois is going ahead.

Councillor for Sleekburn, which includes Cambois, Alex Wallace said: “It is fantastic news that residents and businesses in Cambois will soon be connected to full-fibre broadband.

“This upgrade in connectivity will provide our community with faster internet speeds, something I know has been an issue in the area for a while now.

“I’m very pleased to hear that FACTO, the company carrying out the work, is providing a free broadband connection to Cambois Primary School and they are supporting clubs and charities in the area.”

Leader Scott Dickinson added: “It’s disappointing to hear that only seven per cent of Northumberland has access to full fibre broadband. But we’re pleased that council leaders are working with companies to address this. And it’s vital because in the 21st century businesses, education, individuals and families need it.”
