Choppington councillor Mary Murphy says her ward has one of the highest Band D council tax in England Choppington and Northumberland.
Councillor Murphy said: “Basically my little ward is the second most expensive council tax village in England!!!
“And what do we get for our pain? Do we have a bus station, no. A train station, no. A leisure centre, no. A decent park? No. Cycle ways? No. State of the art schools? No.
“This leaves me and the people I serve feeling short changed. I’m fuming.”
Deputy Leader Liz Simpson said: “All this talk of levelling up. It’s a joke. The people of our county and these two wards in particular are being penalised.
“Add that to the rise in energy, food and fuel and a Chancellor who admits he can’t help everyone, people can make up their own minds about what they think about the way this government serves the people.”
