Northumberland Labour says security, prosperity and respect should be the values of a modern country like Britain in the 21st century.

Northumberland Labour Deputy leader Liz Simpson said: “It really isn’t good enough when a privileged few in our country have so much they hardly know what to do with it while millions of people (including four million children) have been plunged into poverty, facing the highest taxes for a generation, eye-watering energy and fuel costs and spiralling food costs, life expectancy going down and little or no prospect of a decent home or job.

“At the same time cuts to police services make people feel less safe and the government lacks leadership; preferring to follow its own rules on standards of behaviour and law that it instructed others to follow.”

Labour will provide crime prevention teams in every neighbourhood, ensure more is made, bought and sold in Britain, creating jobs while tackling climate change and ensure the Nolan principles of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership are at the heart of a Labour-led government.

Liz added: “Treating the people you’re elected to serve in the way this government has is a political choice. The government could drastically improve security, prosperity and respect for millions of people in this country but chooses not to.

“The people of Britain and our wonderful county of Northumberland deserve better and to know someone is on their side.

“Northumberland Labour is on your side, always putting local people first.”
