Northumberland Labour is backing plans to make the economy work for everyone.

Labour has practical plans to get the economy firing on all cylinders again while tackling the climate emergency.

Northumberland Labour leader Scott Dickinson said: “It is possible to have a healthy economy from which everyone can benefit while tackling climate change.”

Labour plans to invest in more onshore wind farms, electric vehicles and retrofit buildings and homes to make them warmer and cheaper to run.

The plans also include cutting tax for small business by raising the threshold for Small Business Rates Relief and replacing outdated business rates systems which puts people off investing and holds back growth.

Cllr Lynne Grimshaw Shadow Cabinet for Business and Regeneration said: “Labour would also have an active industrial strategy that sets a clear, long-term plan for our economy so we buy, make and sell more in Britain.

“Labour’s plan are challenging but practical. In a modern rich country like ours we can, if the will is there, make this a country where everyone prospers while improving our precious climate for our children.”
