Labour committed to decent homes for all

A Labour-led Northumberland will be committed to decent homes for all.

Allan Hepple said: “In 2021 it seems impossible that we’re still talking about one of the most basic of human necessities; a decent home.

“However, the Conservative-led council, which promised new affordable homes in its 2017 manifesto, has yet to lay a single brick. They have let down hundred of people in our county who simply want a decent place to live.

“Under a Labour-led council, 1,000 affordable homes will be built. We will also retrofit existing council homes to make them greener and cheaper to run.

“And, for people renting privately, we will recognise good landlords and root out the poor ones who have no place in our county.

“Having a decent home is about dignity and a safe place for you and your family.

“The country and our county has suffered from broken promises on the housing front. This has to stop and it will stop on Day One of a Labour-led council.”
