Deputy leader of Northumberland Labour and Newbiggin Central councillor Liz Simpson has cut the ribbon on the much improved life boat ramp in Newbiggin.

The improvements have been made because the ramp area needed to be made safer for pedestrians.

Councillor Simpson said: “I am so pleased I put the wheels in motion for this to happen. It has made the lifeboat ramp a safer place for residents and visitors to cross.

“I would like to thank the council’s head of technical services David Laux and his team for taking this forward and the administration for agreeing to it.”
