Northumberland Labour says in the next couple of weeks voters get the chance to send the Tories a message they cannot ignore; Britain deserves better.

Northumberland Labour leader Scott Dickinson said: “Even after everything the Chancellor announced, families are hundreds worse off.

“Prices are going through the roof and wages are going through the floor. Under this government, we have the biggest drop in living standards since the 50s and the highest taxes in 70 years.

“Britain has a lot to be proud of, but Britain does not have a government on the side of businesses, working families and pensioners. That’s what Labour promises to be: on your side.

“The government could have levied a windfall tax on oil and gas companies to help with household bills but chose not to.

“It could have delayed the rise in National Insurance but chose not to.

“People in our wonderful county of Northumberland and in the country are being let down on a grand scale.

“In a rich, modern country standards of living should not be going backwards.

“Under a Labour-led government, we’ll be on your side.”
