Northumberland Labour says the present government’s plans for growth are not what we asked for or what’s needed.

Leader Scott Dickinson said: “In just a few weeks of her being Prime Minister, Liz Truss has alienated people in her own party as well as people all across the country.

“Twelve years of a Tory government has done nothing to address the concerns of ordinary people who just want a roof over their head, decent education and health care and a job which enables them to pay their own way.

“With four million children living in poverty, more and more people relying on foodbanks and home ownership out of reach for thousands of people, Truss added insult to injury by robbing from the poor and giving to the rich, justifying it by saying it would help grow the economy.  Let’s be clear about this. It won’t.

“Truss lumps Labour in with what she calls the anti-growth coalition. But like all the people and organisations she’s accusing, Labour has plans to put money back in ordinary people’s pockets, address climate change and have a healthy economy. If anything this group are the pro-growth coalition, the difference being that everyone will enjoy the riches of growth, not just a tiny, already wealthy minority.

“Labour’s plans are to build a fairer, greener future that this country deserves.”
