If you were the average reader on the 17th of February, you’d think the Druridge Bay Crossing for pedestrians had just had some funding provided by Northumberland County Council or that the Leader as he stated had some hand in achieving the funding from Millar Homes. It’s simply untrue.

The work they are referencing is complete, they make it sound like it’s something new. The Parish Council and the Local Ward member at the time negotiated the position with the developers and secured the cash after many site meetings and delays.

Work with highways and others have been undertaken with the local member and nobody else. This type of misleading information is very dangerous, it does not give confidence to the public about the information they are provided with from the Council being accurate or true.

Facebook comments from residents are laughing at the “announcement” of something already complete.

Nobody will understand what is trying to be achieved here. They are either badly briefed, never drive in the area mentioned, or are just happy to pass on misinformation. All feels a little sad and desperate. The truth of the matter is the Council has had the money since 2016 and the delays to getting it progressed with the lack of willingness have been ongoing for 7 long years.
